ROBIN Hood and his Merry Men will ride into a County Durham town this week to entertain residents during the festive period.

The Sedgefield Players will perform Babes in the Wood, a pantomime following the exploits of Robin Hood and his battles with the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham.

Normal Neal from the Players said: “This panto has all the ingredients of a great Christmas treat.

“With plenty of song, dance, booing, cheering and audience participation plus magnificent costumes and scenery, Sedgefield audiences can look forward to another excellent panto from this talented team.”

The show will feature Ciaran Jasper as Robin Hood, Terry West as Nurse Nellie Numpty and David Jasper as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

Musical director Thomas Guest who plays Little John, wrote the panto and added his expertise in choreography to that of Gill Rowe with her girls of Fishburn Dance and Drama.

Players’ director Walter Howell said: “The panto is a highlight of our year, bringing together a great variety of talents across a wide age range.

“The audience is very important to the success of the show, so we look forward to packed houses joining in the festive fun.”

The show starts at 7pm from Friday, December 27 to Monday, December 30, at Sedgefield Parish Hall.

Matinee tickets have sold out.

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £5 concessions, with a ten per cent discount for groups of ten or more, from Tickety Boo in Front Street, Sedgefield, on 01740-621771 or at sedgefieldplayers.co.uk.
