STOCKTON Sixth Form College has secured a grant of £84,000 so students can broaden their education abroad.
The campus has been chosen to take part in the International Comendius project which will see the teenagers work on various assignments with their classmates across Europe over the next two years.
The first leg of the project, worth more than 100,000 Euros, will give students the chance to put together a theatrical performance around the theme of ‘European legends’, and perform their show in front of theatre-goers in Malta.

The second project, planned for 2014/15, is around the topic of European cuisine and will give students the opportunity to promote the cuisine of various European regions and market the produce to customers in Germany and France.
Joanna Bailey, principal at Stockton Sixth Form College, said: “The Comenius project is a fantastic addition to the huge range of extra-curricular activities the college offers, and will be a great asset in boosting students’ chances of securing university places and employment after college.”
The Comenius funding comes just months after the college was successfully chosen to be part of the European Leonardos project, where travel and tourism students are given the chance to do paid work placements in Spain as part of their studies.
