POLICE are appealing for vital witnesses to come forward after a pedestrian was hurt in a collision with a car.

The 91-year-old man was crossing Burton Stone Lane in York when the incident happened at about 4.20pm on Tuesday, December 17.

The collision near the York City ground involved a silver Mazda 6 and the pedestrian suffered serious injuries. He is currently in a stable condition in York Hospital.

Traffic Sergeant Andy Morton said: “The witnesses I need to trace are a man described as Asian and two men with pedal cycles who didn’t speak English. They assisted the injured man at the scene but left before police arrival.

“I urge them to come forward as they may have vital information that could help my investigation.

“I am also appealing to anyone who either witnessed the collision or saw either the Mazda or the pedestrian prior to the incident and ask them to get in touch.”
