FANTASTIC fundraising has netted Darlington school children a well-earned award.

Pupils and staff at Polam Hall School raised more than £6,000 for charity during 2013.

The money – which was shared out between a host of national and regional charities – was raised through events including a midnight walk and a 140-mile coast-to-coast bike ride.

In recognition of their efforts, St Teresa’s Hospice gave the school their Young Supporters Award, with teacher Patricia Pemberton also receiving an Excellent Supporter Award.

Jane Bradshaw, St Teresa’s Hospice Chief Executive said: “Over the last few years, the pupils and staff of Polam Hall School have shown just how much they care about a vital local cause like St Teresa’s Hospice.

“Their support has been magnificent, and we’re delighted that they have chosen to continue their involvement with the Hospice.”

Polam Hall’s Headmaster, John Moreland said: “I’m really proud of all the work and donations we are able to give to charity.

“Our Quaker roots mean it is really important to the school to engage with our community and engage in a host of community projects.”
