A MAN was taken to hospital after the car he was a passenger in crashed into a garden wall in the early hours of Saturday morning (Dec 14).

A blue MG ZR ploughed into the large stone wall in Colburn Village just before 1.55am, and a 19-year-old man in the front passenger seat suffered facial injuries.

Two teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, suffered minor cuts and bruises in the back of the car.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said they were alerted to the crash by Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and the fire crews had helped the two teenage girls out of the car.

He said: “The male passenger was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for treatment but his injuries were not thought to be serious.”

A 21-year-old man was later arrested and has been charged with drink driving, failing to stop at an accident and failing to report an accident.

He will appear at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on January 3.
