A COUPLE were taken to hospital after being attacked by a gang of five men after they were confronted for damaging two cars.
They were attacked between 4pm and 5pm on Sunday, December 8 near to the junction of Cleveland Street and Westgate in Guisborough.
The man was assaulted by the group, along with his wife who was punched when she tried to assist him. Both victims were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The 38-year-old man was punched, kicked and bitten and was treated for bruising, swelling and a bite to his head. The 37-year-old woman was treated for bruising and swelling to her face.
Cleveland Police believe that the men had been drinking in the public houses in the Guisborough area earlier in the day.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and was bailed pending further enquiries.
