ACCOMMODATION for vulnerable, homeless people has opened in North Yorkshire.
Derwent Lodge, on Church Street in Norton, near Malton, will provide overnight accommodation for single, homeless residents in Ryedale.
The new facility will house up to 14 residents aged over 16 who have nowhere else suitable to live. Support staff will be on hand at the centre to support residents in learning new skills that will help them establish an independent life.
The centre was developed by Ryedale District Council with a government grant of £560,000.
Derwent Lodge is a safe haven for vulnerable people who need help to get their lives back on track,” said Councillor Linda Cowling, leader of Ryedale District Council.
“It has been developed to ensure that vulnerable people from Ryedale can be helped and supported in times of great need and ensure that they can move on with their lives.
“I am very proud of this project and know it will make a real difference to a lot of people now and in the future.”
