Delight for Darlington Lions Club members after receiving Club of the Year trophy for region
DARLINGTON Lions Club has been honoured with a Club of the Year award for the North East England and Scotland district.
The club received the trophy at the annual regional convention hosted by Malton Lions Club where the district’s immediate past governor John Sutherland praised the diversity and value of work by Darlington members.
Some of the causes supported by the Darlington Lions include blind and visually impaired groups, talking books and newspapers, various disabled and children’s charities, family help, and an ongoing presence in Darlington with their bookshop.
Robert Hillary, Darlington Lions president, said that the club was “delighted and privileged” to have won the trophy out of 43 other Lions clubs in the North East and Scotland.
He added: “This is quite an achievement that the club can be proud of.”
The Lions 2nd vice district governor, Dave Wells, said that the award was “very well deserved”.
