A CHARITY boxing night has been organised in memory of a young father who was killed earlier this year.
The event to raise money for Benji Bolsenbroek, who had become a father days before his death, takes place at Eston Leisure Centre this weekend.
The 23-year-old, from Thornaby, near Stockton, died after a large-scale disturbance at the Park Hotel, in Linthorpe Road, in the early hours of Sunday, October 6.
He was assaulted and was first taken to his mother's home in Linthorpe by family and friends, later going to hospital.
The night, organised in association with the European Boxing Federation, will have a 17 fight undercard with the main fight being the Middlesbrough Title fight between (CORR) Daz Dicko v Kev Bacon.
A spokesman for the event organiser said: “In this one off special event the community will come together to raise money for Benji’s family to help give him the send off he deserves.
“There are already a high number of local companies supporting the event including Moorside Motors, Contender Promotions, Spensley’s Emporium and many more.”
The tickets will cost between £30 and £50 each and are available direct from the event organisers by calling 07899-940230.
