AN awesome foursome of Darlington college students will fly the flag for the North-East in a national mathematics competition.

The four Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College students - Wesley Chow, Joe Wall, Ben Donaldson and Cameron Grove - recently won the regional round of the Senior Team Maths Challenge at Teesside University.

They fought off competition from 21 school teams from across the North East and will now represent the region at the national final in London in February. organised by the UK Mathematics Trust’s.

Helen Greaves, the college’s course leader for A level mathematics, said: “All four students are talented mathematicians who enjoy stretching their minds with difficult mathematical problems.”

The competition is organised by the UK Mathematics Trust to test students’ mathematical dexterity, team work abilities and communication skills.
