A WOMAN is seriously-ill in hospital after a mystery incident at a house near Northallerton.
The incident happened earlier today and it is unknown whether she was hurt in a fall or was assaulted.
Police were alerted at around 10.30am today, Friday, by staff at the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, after the woman was admitted with a serious head injury.
And officers are currently working to establish how she sustained her injuries and are making enquiries at a property on Bullamoor Road, at Kirby Sigston, just outside Northallerton.
The 48-year-old woman remains in hospital and her condition as described as “serious” by police.
Detectives are now appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact them as soon as possible on 101, select option two and ask for Northallerton Protecting Vulnerable Person’s Unit.
