A PENSIONER is fighting for her life in hospital after being struck by a car as she crossed the road.
She suffered a serious head injury as she fell to the ground and is now in a critical condition in the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
The 81-year-old woman was crossing Chapel Street, in Easingwold, near to Barclays Bank at about 1pm on Thursday, December 5, when she was hit by a black Kia Cee’d which was reversing.
The driver of the Kia, a local man in his 70s, was uninjured but shaken up by the incident.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in Chapel Street at around 1pm and saw the Kia or the woman pedestrian either before the incident or who witnessed the incident itself, to contact them.
