The Centre for Local Studies in Crown Street Library has a music-themed display for December.

Visitors to the centre can find out more about the talented Hoggett family who once owned a music shop in Darlington.

Several generations of Hoggetts contributed to the town’s musical scene by leading bands and orchestras, playing church organs and teaching and composing music.

The Musical Darlington display continues until the end of December and there is also the opportunity to see photographs of the recent archaeological dig at the Town Hall.

ARTY IDEA: A host of new art courses are starting at The Bridge Centre next month.

From January 13 the centre off Yarm Road will run courses ranging from ceramics to patchwork and quilting to life drawing for ten weeks at two-hour weekly sessions.
