A COUNCIL has announced its Christmas and New Year arrangements.

Durham County Council’s customer access points and most other council buildings will close at 12.45pm on Christmas Eve, and remain closed until Thursday, January 2.

In an emergency, residents should call the council on 03000-260-000 or the 24-hour automated payments line, 0845-835-0120.

Issues can also be reported online at durham.gov.uk Council-run leisure centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and will shut at 4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Libraries will be closed over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Those normally open on Christmas Eve will close at 12.45pm. Normal hours will resume on January 2.

Adult day centres will close on bank holidays but open as normal on other days.

For children’s centre and register office opening times, residents should contact their local venue.
