POLICE are trying to track down a black Peugeot 206 after a distressed woman was seen getting into the car.
The vehicle, registration number BV52FLE, was seen in Bad Bargain Lane, York, at around 9am today, December 2, before driving off towards Ashley Park.
A member of the public called the police after they believe they saw a distressed woman getting into the vehicle and officers are anxious to confirm the woman is safe and well.
However, after extensive enquiries throughout the day they have yet to trace the car or the occupants.
Officers say they may be an innocent explanation – but they will not be satisfied until that can be confirmed.
Anyone with information can contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option one and pass information to the force control room. However anyone who has an immediate sighting of the car should call 999.
Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers, anonymously, by calling 0800 555111.
