7th Darlington Sea Scouts thank fundraisers at recent beer festival for donations

MEMBERS of the 7th Darlington Sea Scouts have thanked those who helped raise more than £300 for the group at a recent beer festival.
Throughout this year’s annual CAMRA – the Campaign for Real Ale - Beer Festival, held at The Northern Echo arena, in Neasham Road, in August, the group provided a shuttle bus service from the town centre and Darlington railway station to the arena.
Over the three-day festival the group helped more than 200 people to get to and from the event, and, thanks to donations from punters, raised around £300 for the group.
Group leader, Andrew Burgess, said the money will go towards the running costs of the bus, and a summer sailing camp to the Lake District for the scouts next year.
“The scouts always look forward to sailing camp. We are very much grateful for their donations,” he said.
“The bus itself costs a bit to run and we do bag packing to help raise money to run it, so it is always nice to get a donation like this.”
