Public consultation on proposed offshore windfarm to be conducted in Redcar area
THE public has the chance to make their views known about plans for a massive off-shore windfarm from Monday, November 4.
The huge Dogger Bank windfarm would be connected to the mainland by cable to Lackenby, near Redcar and two new converter stations are also planned at nearby Wilton.
The consultation will run for seven weeks and there will be three public events. The first will be on Friday, November 22 from 2pm to 7.30pm at The Hub, Esplanade, Redcar. The second will be held at Saturday, November 23 from 10.30am to 4.30pm at Lazenby Village Hall and the last will be held on Monday, November 25 from 11am to 6pm at Zetland Park Methodist Church, The Crescent, Redcar. Go to www.forewind.co.uk to see the documents.
NORDIC WALKING: Nordic Walking exercise events have been organised in Hartlepool. The Scandinavian fitness technique uses walking poles and can burn off up to 47 per cent more calories than normal walking. It dates from the 1930s when cross-country skiers in Finland started to use ski poles during their out-of-season training. Hartlepool Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team is now running an autumn/winter programme with sessions at a variety of different locations. REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: Saltburn's annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service takes place at the Glenside war memorial on Sunday, November 10 at 10.45am for 11am. About 20 Saltburn organisations and groups send representatives to lay wreaths at the 90-year-old memorial. An inter-church service will be held at the Methodist church, Milton Street, Saltburn, starting at 10am. About 200 people usually attend.
