Boxers fight robots in Middlesbrough
YOUNG boxers pitted their wits against toy robots in order to test a new computer game today (Friday, November 1).
The junior boxers battled it out with the robots at Captain Cook Square in Middlesbrough and youngsters were also allowed to have a go and take part in a lucky draw.
The event was organised by Tomy Toys to promote Battroborg game and, as well as giving the young boxers some fun, the company has given financial donations to the Phil Thomas School of Boxing.
The two young boxers from the boxing club, Aaron Armstron, 13, and Mo Merhban, 17, played with the toy robots and against each other at The Entertainer shop.
Aaron has not lost a fight to date and Mo is fighting at England level.
A spokeswoman for Tomy said: “It was good fun and the place was packed with young people.
"Two of them won a ‘golden’ edition of the game in a prize draw. We’re really pleased to support the boxing club, which is one of the oldest in the area and run by volunteers.”
