Nurse suspended at specialist hospital near Darlington
A NURSE at a hospital for mentally-ill patients has been suspended, The Northern Echo has learned.
The female employee at Priory Hospital, in Middleton St George, near Darlington, was suspended over an ‘administrative issue’.
A spokeswoman for the hospital was keen to stress that the suspension was not related to concerns over patient care, but would declined to give further details on the record.
Investigations into the nurse’s conduct are being carried out and it remains to be seen whether she will be invited to return to work.
The 81-bedroom hospital provides specialist in-patient care for adults with mental health needs Earlier this year, the hospital was told to make urgent improvements by the Care Quality Commission.
One of the areas identified for improvement, following the inspection in January, was staff recruitment procedures.
A follow-up inspection in March found that the required improvements had been made.
