SCHOOLCHILDREN across Dyfed-Powys are being encouraged to design a Christmas card for Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon.
The winning entry in a region-wide design competition will be emailed to hundreds of people on Christopher Salmon’s Christmas list, including Prime Minister David Cameron.
Mr Salmon, who will mark his first anniversary as Commissioner on November 22, said: “Strong schools are pivotal to strong communities across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.
“For that reason, I’d like a school pupil to design my Office’s 2013 Christmas e-card.
“This will be selected through a competition open to all Year Six pupils across the region.”
All schools which enter will have at least one pupil’s design reproduced on the Commissioner’s Facebook page alongside the name of the young artist.
The winning design will go to hundreds of contacts, ranging from members of the public to Police and Crime Commissioners around England and Wales.
The prize is a tour of Police HQ near Carmarthen and £200 to spend on a community safety initiative of the school’s choice.
The theme of the competition reflects Mr Salmon’s priorities to keep communities safe. The accent is on fun, colour and Welshness.
All Dyfed-Powys schools with a Year Six – for children aged 10-11 - have been emailed details; entries deadline is November 27.
