TWO award-winning colts will be sold at a charity auction after a pony show next weekend.

The auction takes place after the Dales Pony Show, at Barnard Castle Auction Mart, on Saturday, November 9.

Keith and Maureen Metcalf, of Meadow View, Bolam, in County Durham, who have showed Dales Ponies for more than 36 years, have offered to sell two animals in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance and The Brain Tumour Charity.

Bolam Paddy was born on May 15, to Bolam Sophie and Westwick Taffy, and Bolam Storm was born on April 5, to Earnwell Charmane and Bolam OK.

Both colts are described as good natured and have been shown locally and won prizes in the 2013 season.

Libby Bell, of Barnard Castle Auction Mart, will host the auction at 2pm.

An event spokeswoman said: “This is a very generous donation by Mr Metcalf and we hope that people will come along and support two very worthy causes.”

Meanwhile, the pony show itself starts at 11am.
