Wedding winner chooses her dream bridal gown

A COUPLE who won the wedding of their dreams thanks to readers of The Northern Echo have begun to make arrangements for the big day.
Julie Bond and Darren Hird, who have been together for four years, will tie the knot at a civil ceremony on June 7 next year.
The couple, from Darlington, won the most votes in The Northern Echo’s ‘Win A Wedding’ competition.
Their prize includes a wedding evening function for 80 guests, a three-course wedding breakfast and full outfits for the bride, groom, best man, ushers and bridesmaids.
Preparations are already well under way and Miss Bond visited the Happily Ever After boutique, in Parkgate, Darlington, on Tuesday (October 29), to look at dresses.
Thankfully though, unlike many brides-to-be, the dress selection proved an easy task.
Miss Bond said: “It was fantastic - I knew straight away. I tried a couple on afterwards, but I went straight back to it!
“We’ve got an appointment on Friday with the company doing the invitations and centrepieces.
“In a few weeks time, we’ve got a meeting with the caterers.”
Her daughters Katie, 16, Jess, 13, Laura, 12, and Harrison, aged nine are equally excited.
Miss Bond added: “It wasn’t easy to get the girls to decide on the same thing, but they chose the colours and it was entirely up to them. As long as they’re happy, I’m happy.”
