Charity group to hold meetings for brain injury sufferers
11:47am Tuesday 29th October 2013 in News
A CHARITY group is to hold regular free meetings for people living with brain injury.
Headway Darlington and District, which was launched in June, will host the sessions in Darlington on the first Tuesday of every month from 1pm to 3pm.
The sessions, which are free, will be an opportunity for people living with brain injury, and their families and carers, to meet others in a safe and friendly environment.
There will be group discussions and interactive games and activities, as well as educational sessions to help people understand and cope with the effects of brain injury. Light refreshments will be served.
Giles Hudson, chairman of the group, said that the plan is to offer outings and excursions, as well as other activities, once the group has become established.
He said: “The group is still in its early stages but our first event was a real success, which proves there is a real need for a service like ours in the Darlington area.
“We plan to use these first few sessions to get an idea of what people want from the group, and for them to get to know us and each other.
“We hope as many people as possible will come along to swap ideas and have some fun.”
The next session will take place next Tuesday (November 5) at Evolution on Church Row, Darlington, DL1 5QD.
Sessions on December 3 and January 7 will be held at Darlington Fire Station, St Cuthbert’s Way, DL1 5LN.
