Musicals show goes down a treat in Darlington
MEMBER of an amateur operatic society have taken to the stage in a show featuring numbers from some of the best-loved Broadway and West End musicals.
Strictly Musicals is being performed by members of Darlington Operatic Society (DoS), at Darlington Civic Theatre.
Opening night on Wednesday (October 23) went well, said DoS spokesman Julian Cound.
He said: “There was a good crowd in and they loved it, there was a good reaction at the end.
“We have been rehearsing for six months, but the show itself has been a lot longer in the planning.
“If you are putting on something like Oklahoma, you have the script and characters to go off, but with this it was very much a blank piece of paper.”
Strictly Musicals features numbers from Tony and Olivier award-nominated shows – including Miss Saigon, Les Miserables and West Side Story.
It runs until Saturday, November 2.
