Launch of Christmas-themed fun run to take place in Richmond

FUN RUN: The British Heart Foundation will be holding an event in Richmond Market Place on Saturday, October 26 to launch a fun run and walk called Chase the Pud - last year's Santa Mile.
The race will be held on Saturday, December 7, along the disused railway line in Richmond. The launch will start at 10am on the Town Hall steps with the Mayor of Richmond Bob White and Santa who will distribute leaflets with details of the event.
RETIREMENT PLANS: The Swaledale Festival administrator, Margaret Murphy, has announced her retirement, but has no plans to put her feet up.
"I want to do more painting, more experimenting with kiln-formed glass and textiles, and spend more time with my grandchildren," she said.
She has been working part-time for the festival, but during the festival's box-office period, she said sometimes that had become eight days a week.
The 2014 Swaledale Festival runs from May 24 to June 7.

BRASS CONCERT: Reeth Brass Band will be performing in St Mary’s Church, Richmond, on Friday, October 25 at 7pm. Tickets on the door cost £5 and proceeds go towards the Mayor’s charities.
