Darlington mother on track for literary success
A NORTH-EAST mother is on track to literary success, thanks to her train-mad son.
Darlington mother Bree Waine put pen to paper after being inspired by her little boy’s love of trains.
Her festively-themed debut book, James and the Christmas Train, follows the adventures of a child who wants to give Santa a special gift.
Ms Waine enlisted the help of son James, seven, to illustrate the colourful book and hopes it will find its way into the hearts of children everywhere.
She said: “It’s all about the magic of Christmas and it has a good message about the joy of giving something back.
“It’s very exciting releasing it and I’ve been quite emotional about how well it has been going so far.
“When I was younger I had to make a choice between maths and art and always had the art route at the back of my mind so the whole process has been really enjoyable.”
In the run-up to Christmas, Ms Waine, 38, will sign copies of her book at Waterstones branches throughout the region.
She will be at York on Saturday November 23, Northallerton on Saturday November 30, Hexham and Morpeth on Sunday December 1, Newcastle on Saturday December 7, Sunderland on Sunday December 8 and Middlesbrough on Saturday December 14.
The book is available from waterstones.com and amazon.com.
