Barnard Castle firefighters' success in national competition
A GROUP of County Durham firefighters have been judged among the best in the country when it comes to working with breathing apparatus.
The crew from Barnard Castle Fire Station took second place in the event which assessed their skills in areas such as breathing apparatus search and rescue techniques and command and control procedures.
The Teesdale team was up against 19 crews from across the country, having previously won Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service's internal competition.
Adam Hall, district manager for Barnard Castle Fire Station, said: “To achieve second place in only their second year of taking part in the competition is an excellent result, which is down to the commitment of the individuals themselves and the support of the service.”
