A DARLINGTON care home has won a gardening competition staged by its operating company.
Grosvenor Park Care Home, in Burnside Road, was named the winner of the annual Four Seasons Health Care competition, beating off competition from care homes in Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Grosvenor Park gardens were redesigned by staff to include planters made from old decking planks and stones spelling out the name of the home. The rear of the home has two new flower beds, low maintenance shrubs, extended paving areas and an improved lawn.
Seating areas were also created, allowing residents and staff to enjoy new items including a life-size flowerpot man, made from old flowerpots complete with walking stick and flowers for his hair.
Beth Robinson, regional manager at Four Seasons Health Care, said: “The creativity and thought put in to Grosvenor Park’s garden really made it stand out from the crowd.
“Clearly a huge effort had been made that must have required significant amounts of teamwork and support; the staff and residents truly earned and deserve this victory.”
