House-builder from Wolviston, Stockton receives regional honour
A TEESSIDE house-builder has received a regional honour.
Steve Cook, 42, from Wolviston, near Stockton, was named as a regional champion in the National House Building Council (NHBC)’s 33rd Pride in the Job Awards.
Mr Cook, of Yuill Homes was one of five recognised at a ceremony held at York Racecourse, winning the Medium Builder category for his College Gardens site in Billingham.
It is the second year running Mr Cook received the regional award.
Geoff Egginton, NHBC Regional Director, congratulated Mr Cook on his win: “Steve is absolutely at the top of his game, building some of the best houses in the UK.”
Along with the champions from eight other UK regions, Mr Cook now progresses to Pride in the Job’s Supreme Gala in London in January 2014 where the nation’s Supreme Winners will be announced.
Mr Cook talked about his win: “It’s fantastic news for me and my site team. It proves that we are constructing a quality product to the highest standard, and have been recognised at the highest level.”
Mr Cook has worked in house-building for 27 years, beginning his career on a youth training scheme for building and maintenance, before doing a diploma in Site management and working his way up the ladder.
