Police release e-fit of would-be York raider
3:34pm Monday 14th October 2013 in News
POLICE have issued an e-fit of a man they would like to speak after a man in his 70s confronted a would-be burglar trying to break into his home.
It is believed that the suspect had previously knocked at the man’s door before trying to gain entry through a downstairs window of the house in Reygate Grove, Copmanthorpe, York.
But as he tried to break in through a downstairs window the householder challenged the raider who promptly fled from the scene.
The incident happened at about 1.25pm last Friday, October 11, and police are appealing for anyone who either recognises the suspect from the e-fit or saw any suspicious people or activity in the Copmanthorpe area to contact them.
Detective Constable Adam Parkinson said: “Thanks to the bravery of the householder in confronting the suspect, he fled the scene and did not manage to get in the house. However, we need to stop this man and prevent him from burgling any other properties.”
Contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for Adam Parkinson at York CID or email email@example.com
Alternatively pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
