Richmond peer to address Durham students
A NORTH peer will speak at a school in the region later this week (Friday, October 11).
Baroness Harris of Richmond, a deputy speaker in the House of Lords and former chair of North Yorkshire County Council, will address politics and history students from Durham School’s sixth form on Friday.
The Liberal Democrat life peer will then take questions.
Jonathan Webb, the school’s deputy headteacher, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to interact with someone who knows the parliamentary system inside out, as it can sometimes seem far removed from their daily lives.”
The visit was arranged through the Lord Speaker’s Peers in Schools programme.
