Teesdale gallery's new photographer-in-residence aims to develop her business
A PHOTOGRAPHER is hoping her new role at a Teesdale art gallery will help her business develop.
Darlington's Catherine Mitford is the new photographer-in-residence at Barnard Castle's NeST Gallery.
She has worked as a predominantly location-based photographer for the past 14 years but is now looking forward to taking advantage of the studio facilities available at the NeST, a former car showroom in Newgate.
“I love doing the location work and I will still push that, but the studio gives me lots more options. For example, it opens up commercial product work.”
Mrs Mitford joined the NeST as a member just over a year ago and has displayed some of her work at the gallery.
She becomes the gallery's second photographer-in-residence, succeeding Eva Zandman, who has relocated to the west of Scotland.
“I would like to base and grow my business from here,” said Mrs Mitford.
“I see this as a long term commitment to build the business and make something of it.”
