Shops form a co-operative for help with publicity

INDEPENDENT shops and businesses in a North Yorkshire town have pooled their resources for help in promoting their community.
Organisations in Boroughbridge have formed a new co-operative to engage the help of media experts in promoting the town.
The town has a high street made up of independent stores and this week launched Love Boroughbridge to maintain the momentum of an initiative developed by the chamber of trade at the beginning of the year.
Harrogate-based agency Montpellier Media Services was employed to work with members to develop the town’s profile online and through the media.
Following the success of a number of events in the town held throughout the year, including a food and drink festival and an Easter egg hunt, which were widely publicised at the time, traders decided to keep the momentum going.
They have formed a co-operative in order to continue using the agency for help and advice on press releases, social media, either for the town as a whole or for individual businesses.
