POLICE have issued a dispersal order in an area of Middlesbrough to help tackle anti-social behaviour in the run up to bonfire night.

From October 28, neighbourhood officers in Coulby Newham will be able to move on anyone causing a nuisance or disturbance and if they refuse they can be arrested or taken home to their parents.

The order covers Marton and Nunthorpe, bounded by the railway line, the A1043 Nunthorpe Bypass, A172 Dixons Bank, Stokesley Road and parts of the A174 Parkway. The order lasts until November 6.

Sergeant Brian Hallas, from Coulby Newham Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “This is another example of how we work proactively to protect local communities. Dispersal orders have been successful when we have used them in other areas and will help us to deal with any seasonal antisocial behaviour.

“Anyone experiencing antisocial behaviour can contact neighbourhood officers for assistance.”
