A MOTORBIKING mother-of-six who only passed her motorcycle test two years ago raced around Silverstone today, Thursday, October 3, with some of the best riders in the world.

Jayne Walker, 41, of New Marske, Redcar, won a competition with motorcycle insurers Bennetts, in which she had to say what her motorbiking dream was.

For Mrs Walker, whose children are aged two to 16, the dream was being able to ride safely and she had lessons from biking legends Scott Redding and Maria Costello, MBE.

She explained she had loved motorbikes all her life but had only felt confident enough to take her test in her late 30s.

Mrs Walker, whose husband, Richard, runs a garage,  has her own business making biker patches. She entered the Facebook competition last December and had forgotten all about it when she took a call explaining she’d won last week.

The busy mum, who rides a BMW F700 GS, said: “It was out of this world. I knew I was going to meet Maria, the fastest lady TT racer and any female biker would be blown away by that. I had no idea Scott Redding  would be there too. I’ve got a grin welded to my face and I expect it will be there for months.”

Mrs Walker was given practical road safety advice, as well as having the chance to race around the famous Silverstone track in the Midlands.

Scott Redding, 20, is the youngest rider in the history of Grand Prix motorcycle racing to win a race.  Maria Costello, 40, once held the world record for the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT race.
