Smart water your property, urge police
BEAT criminals by smart-watering your possessions, say police.
At a police and communities meeting held in Heighington, near Darlington, last week, PCSO Dave Blackett urged the public to mark their valuables with smart water.
The product, invisible except under a UV light, allows police to reunite stolen items with their owners.
It contains a unique forensic code which links property to an address registered by its owner.
PCSO Blackett said: “It does not matter where your property ends up, we can get it back to you.
“It has never failed and is invisible to the naked eye.
“It is a great deterrent and comes with stickers to warn thieves smart water is present around your property.”
The product – which can be used on everything from electrical goods to jewellery and lasts a minimum of five years – can be bought from many reputable outlets and costs just £10 for members of the Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
