Crazy contestants tackle inflatable obstacle course to raise funds for Bishop Auckland and Stockton hospices
WHAT do you get if you combine daredevil contestants, an inflatable obstacle course a £5,000 fundraising target?
It’s a Knock Out of course.
Aimed at raising funds for Butterwick Hospice, the crazy charity challenge saw twelve teams of ten compete in a series of fun-filled rounds at West Aukland in County Durham today (Sunday, September 29).
From driving inflatable cars in a crash derby, to completing an obstacle course while covered in foam and water, the competitors’ antics certainly provided a hilarious spectacle for audience members who cheered them on ever step and slip of the way.
The teams were made up of colleagues from various North-East businesses, with participants ranging 16 to 60-years-old.
Clair McGregor [CORR}, of Butterwick Hospice, who organised the event alongside Beryl Anderson, said the contestants was expected to raise £5,000 in sponsorship for the charity.
“It has been a fantastic day and we are so pleased the weather has been kind,” she said.
“We are a local hospice but we cover a huge area. Luckily, there is so much community spirit and support in the North-East.
“Today is a fun event and everyone is enjoying themselves but we know it is for an important cause.”
Butterwick Hospice aims to improve the quality of life for those suffering a life-limiting illness and their families.
It runs an adult and a children’s hospice in Stockton and a further adult hospice in Bishop Auckland.
