Distraction burglary at hairdressing business
6:18pm Friday 27th September 2013 in News
POLICE are advising shop workers to be on their guard after a burglary at a hairdressing business.
Three women walked into Salon 54 in Thirsk Market Place and engaged staff in conversation, while one of them stolen an Apple iPhone, Samsung, Nokia and Sony mobile phones and about £150 in cash.
The incident happened at about 5.45pm on Thursday, September 26.
The three women are described as white and in their mid-twenties, with their hair tied back, which witnesses have described as being “very slick”. At least one of them had gold teeth.
When they left the premises, the women got into a burgundy coloured car containing two men.
PC Julie Kessell, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you can help to identify any of the people involved in this theft, either the women who entered the hairdressers or the men in the car outside, I urge you to contact the police straight away.
“Can I also advise people working in shops to be aware of thieves operating in this way so they don’t become distracted and give members of these gangs an opportunity to steal items.
“I would also advise keeping personal property out of sight or in locked staff only areas.”
Anyone who can help the officers with their enquiries is asked to contact Thirsk Police on 101 and ask for Julie Kessell. Information can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
