Acoustic musicians to perform at Sedgefield hotel

AN open acoustic night is being held at the Crosshill Hotel, in Sedgefield, County Durham, from 8pm on Sunday (September 29). A long line-up of performers has already been confirmed. Entry is free.
DRESS TALK: The Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, County Durham, is hosting a talk by Helen Cannam, whose dress is on show in the museum’s Laura Ashley exhibition. HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE: The North-East Autism Society, which runs a school in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, is inviting daring individuals to take part in a Halloween Fire Walk to help raise funds. The fancy dress challenge, which involves walking barefoot across burning hot coals, costs £30 and takes place at 7pm on Friday, October 25, at Pennywell Comrades Club in South Hylton , Sunderland.
