Man breaches restraining order taken against him by wife of one month
A MAN who split from his wife after a month of marriage has repeatedly breached a restraining order.
Gareth Wilkinson, 33, had been with his partner for two years but the couple broke up after just a month of marriage.
The courts granted her a restraining order in June 2012, but when their child was born in January and Mr Wilkinson found himself homeless in March, she allowed him to stay.
Prosecutor Deborah Hodge said Wilkinson was only supposed to stay one night but remained for three weeks, during which time he became attached to the child.
Ms Hodge said: “He was told to leave; all this time he was breaching the restraining order.”
She told the court that after Wilkinson agreed to leave he continued to send his ex-wife messages via facebook and called at her home in May – prompting her to call police.
Wilkinson, of Major Street, Darlington, admitted three counts of harassment and no defence was offered as the case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report.
He is due back in court on October 17.
