Competition to design sci-fi movie poster launched at Kirkleatham Museum near Redcar
FILM buffs are being invited to design their own sci-fi movie posters in a competition that will see the winning entry produced.
The competition is being held in conjunction with the sci-fi movie props exhibition, Invasion, which is running at Kirkleatham Museum, near Redcar.
Both events are organised by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.
The winning entry, chosen by the council’s tourism team, will be made into a movie poster and presented to the designer at the museum.
Councillor Olwyn Peters, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said: “The exhibition is proving really popular.
"Whoever wins the competition will have a fantastic memento for what I’m sure will prove to be a really enjoyable trip to the exhibition.”
To enter the competition visit www.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk and follow the link to the Invasion page.
The exhibition runs until November 3 and showcases props and costumes from some of Hollywood’s biggest franchises.
Entry is £2 for adults and £1 for children, including a free second visit, while under-fives go free.
The museum is open 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday, but last admission into the exhibition is 4pm.
From October 1 the museum shuts an hour earlier, throughout winter, and last admission into the exhibition is 3.30pm.
The grounds and the rest of the museum, including the award winning Saxon Princess permanent exhibition, remain free.
