A COUPLE have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the same hall where they held their wedding reception.
John and Joan Adams, from Darlington, celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family party, including their three daughters and grandchildren.
Mr and Mrs Adams arrived at the Masonic hall in a 1950s Zephyr car, organised as a surprise by their family.
The pair met when Mr Adams was stationed at Catterick Camp and Mrs Adams worked at a photography shop in Darlington.
They tied the knot six years after they were engaged, when Mrs Adams lost patience and proposed marriage herself.
The pair remain active, enjoying sports and rambling, as well as spending time with their grandchildren.
