More than 200 top kayakers come to Stockton to compete
SOME of the nation’s leading kayakers came to Teesside at the weekend for a major league meeting.
Kayakers in the Premier Division and divisions one and two competed at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre over Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22.
As well as the league competitions, both junior and veteran championship events were also held and altogether nearly 250 ‘paddlers’ took part.
Chris Walker, operational manager at the Barrage, praised the Tees Tigers club which is based at the centre. He said: “The championship events were a huge honour for the Tees Tigers club to organise and stage. The club really worked hard to securethe event and it was great for spectators to see some fantastic action for free.”
