Dragon's Den-style panel to decide on how public cash will be spent
A DRAGON’S Den-style panel will be used to decide on how £50,000 of public cash will be spent.
The pot of money – intended to be divided between worthy health projects - has been set aside by the Darlington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Groups and organisations interested in competing for a share of the money have been invited to pitch ideas to a panel of so-called ‘dragons’.
Using a similar format to the popular TV series, representatives from voluntary and community organisations will be expected to outline possible projects in front of the panel, which will include local GPs.
Andrea Jones, Chair of Darlington CCG said: “There are many fantastic and imaginative voluntary and community organisations in Darlington and this is a wonderful opportunity for us as a CCG to find out more about the difference they make to the lives of local people.
“It’s also a good opportunity for those groups to find out more about our CCG and the commissioning process and our role in planning and buying health services for our population.”
Projects – which must be linked to the CCG’s strategic objectives - can bid for funds between £2,500 to £25,000.
Applications – which must be received by Monday October 14 – will be accepted from community groups, clubs and societies, voluntary sector organisations, charities, schools, parish and town councils, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations.
