A TEENAGER has hooked success with the England Youth Fly Fishing Team when he was credited with being a competition’s top rod.
Tom Adamson, 16, of Manfield, near to Darlington, was part of the England team for the international event hosted by Wales and held at Lyn Brenig.
During a day’s fishing the Barnard Castle School pupil landed 11 fish. Unfortunately two other fishers had too.
Under the competition’s rules therefore only the first three fish each angle caught could be weighed and the rest were deemed as 2lbs.
The Manfield teen was successful in gaining the top weight when he secured victory by just two ounces from his rivals.
He won the Brown Bowl for his efforts as well as the Tom Bilson trophy for being top English rod.
Tom has already tasted sporting success this year when he came second in the English Youth Fly Fishing competition.
