Court grants order to close down flat used by Class A drug users
POLICE have successfully shut down a drugs den after magistrates agreed to grant a closure order.
The North Road beat team applied for the order after gathering evidence that a flat in Hilton House, on Westmoreland Street, in Darlington, was being used by Class A drug users and was a hub of anti-social activity.
This week magistrates approved an order to close the flat for the next three months in a move that was fully supported by Darlington Borough Council’s housing team.
A Darlington Police spokesman said: “This is a clear message that Darlington Neighbourhood Policing Team will work with all agencies to support victims of crime and anti-social behaviour.
“This property is now boarded up and no access allowed for three months.
“Anyone with similar problems, please contact the police.”
