Tastes of the world at global market in Stockton
4:36pm Friday 20th September 2013 in News
A TOWN centre was transformed with exotic tastes, smells and sights from around the world when a global market set up its stalls.
American cupcakes, Mexican burritos, Polish sausages and goat curry as well as a range of dishes from Africa, Asia and France could be sampled on Stockton High Street today (Friday, September 20).
Shoppers could also peruse an international array of gifts and jewellery while being entertained by street performers.
Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton Council's cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: "From breakfast to lunch, dinner and snacks there was lots to whet the appetite.
"People could try a wealth of new flavours and also pick up a freshly made dinner to enjoy at home later.”
Stockton Borough Council supports the expansion of all markets in Stockton Town Centre as part of its multi million pound programme to regenerate its high street.
