A COUNCIL is due to discuss the long term development strategy for the area.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s cabinet will look at the draft local plan at a meeting on Tuesday, September 24.
The plan sets out the proposals for a variety of development in the area over the next twenty years including housing, employment, retail and town centres, natural and built environment and transport.
Councillor Helen McLucie, cabinet member for highways, planning and transport, said: “The council has prepared an ambitious plan that will take the borough forward by meeting the needs of residents, workers, shoppers and visitors.
“It has been based on insight and knowledge of the issues we face in Redcar and Cleveland and identifies how we will address these through development to create a great place to live, learn, work and visit.
“The plan provides a sound and sustainable basis for future development and economic growth and has been developed in order to address the specific challenges we face in the borough such as the trend of population decline.”
Following its final approval, the Draft Local Plan will be subject to a six week period of public consultation.
