Caravan jacknifed on County Durham road
A MOTORIST was last night being treated in hospital after the caravan she was towing along the A1(M) overturned.
Emergency crews were called to the motorway between junction 60 at Bradbury and junction 61 at Bowburn, in County Durham, at around 10.50am yesterday (Thurs Sept 19).
A police spokesperson said a caravan had overturned but the car stayed upright, blocking both lanes of the southbound carriageway for around two hours.
Firefighters used Holmatro cutting equipment to release the 52-year-old driver, a woman from Newcastle, from her silver Hyundi.
Paramedics treated her at the scene before she was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle. She had no serious injuries but was kept in hospital overnight.
