ORGANISERS of an Olympic-inspired village sports scheme have decided to run a free family fun day.
The Sedgefield Village Games (SVG) was set up last year as Olympic fever gripped the nation and it ran for three weeks.
During the course of the event hundreds of children from Sedgefield took part in 21 free taster sessions for a number of sports.
The SVG proved so popular that the organisers have organised a family fun and games afternoon to be held on the rugby pitch at Sedgefield Cricket Club.
Last year the family fun day proved a popular element of the SVG.
There will be a large amount of sporting equipment for people to use, a Zumba demonstration, raffle, family games and a barbecue.
Entry to the event is free and it runs between 1pm and 5pm on Sunday (September 22). It follows the annual Sedgefield Harriers Serpentine cross country race.
Ean Parsons, chairman of the SVG organising committee, said: “The family fun and games afternoon is just the start of the next phase of the SVG.
“We are very keen for as many local people as possible to get involved in the future development of this initiative.”
Anyone who wants to get involved with the SVG should contact Ean Parsons on 07771-828568.
